Sean Moran is the chair of Buchanan’s Oil & Gas practice group. Sean focuses his practice on business transactions and commercial matters within the oil and gas industry and related sectors. In the last few years, he has represented clients in transactions with an aggregate value of in excess of $15 billion. For upstream companies, Sean has handled a range of transactions including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, acreage swaps and exchanges, farm-outs, mineral title diligence projects, debt and equity financings, syndicated investment programs and commercial transactions. On the midstream side, he has handled acquisitions and divestitures of pipelines, gathering lines, processing and storage facilities and represented clients in commercial agreements such as gas gathering, processing and fractionation agreements. He has also represented upstream and midstream management teams raising capital to fund start-up activities, acquire assets and commence operations. Sean serves on the advisory board for the Institute for Energy Law and on the editorial advisory board of Energy Law360.com. He was named to The Best Lawyers in America® list in the corporate law and energy law categories from 2013 -2017, and to the “Who’s Who in Energy in Pittsburgh” list by the Pittsburgh Business Times from 2011-2015.
